The dual resolver is composed of one single-pole resolver and one multipole resolver, designed into the same set of stator and rotor core, and has its own single-pole winding and multipole winding respectively. The single-pole resolver is called the coarse resolver for keeping track of the number of revolutions, whilst the multipole resolver is called the fine resolver for keeping track of the shaft position in each revolution.
The high-precision measurement of 360° mechanical angle is completed through the combination of coarse and fine resolver signals giving the absolute position, which improves the precision and accuracy of the detection angle position from arcminute to arcsecond.
