Composition of Dual Speed Resolvers

Composed of a single pole pair resolver (coarse resolver) and a multi-pole pair resolver (fine resolver), both designed within the same stator and rotor core but with distinct single pole and multi-pole windings.

Coarse Resolver vs Fine Resolver

Coarse Resolver: The single pole pair resolver, characterized by lower measurement precision.

Fine Resolver: The multi-pole pair resolver, recognized for its higher measurement precision, capable of elevating the accuracy of detection angle position from arc minute to arc second.

Precision Enhancement

Multi-pole resolvers work on the same principle as single pole resolvers, except that the output voltage cycles are different. For example, when the rotor rotates 360° for single pole resolver and P counter-pole resolver, the period of the output voltage of the single pair resolver is 360°, and the period of the output voltage of the P pair resolver is 360°/P. In other words, the mechanical angle of the rotor rotation θ, and the electrical angle of the fine resolver output signal is Pθ.

That is: electrical angle = pole pair P * mechanical angle θ

The multi-pole resolver magnifies the electrical angle by P times and improves the resolution of the rotor rotation angle, which significantly improves the angle measurement accuracy of the dual speed resolver composed of the single pore and multi-pole.
